Master Plan

The SDSU Innovation Campus' Master Plan is a plan to:

Develop clusters of buildings with focus on wind energy, bio-fuels, agriculture, engineering, software and hardware development, pharmaceutical research, infectious diseases, computers/electronics, information technology, medical biotech, just to name a few.
Create pedestrian linkages between all buildings to stimulate collaboration and sharing of ideas.
Construct state-of-the-art buildings to house the best and brightest researchers, and leading companies on the cutting edge of new ideas and technologies.
Design a unique vehicular layout around the Innovation Campus which promotes easy access to companies and researches.
Provide friendly pedestrian crossways to get people to and from South Dakota State University’s main campus and Innovation Campus activities.
Provide a unique layout of space to connects walkways, plazas, and open recreational space with walkways to coffee shops, restaurants and fitness center
Create an innovative community on 125-acres of open land on Interstate-29 and Highway-14 bypass for high-tech companies to locate.
Construct buildings with a mix of office, laboratory, proto-type production, educational, and meeting facilities ranging in height from one to three stories. Full build-out planned for more than one-million square feet of state-of-the-art facilities
Provide vehicular circulation via an internal road that services all building locations. The main vehicular entrance is located between 22nd Avenue and 11th Street and the Highway 14-Bypass. The main entrance is the front door to South Dakota State University’s main campus. The second vehicular access is located directly south of the Highway 14-Bypass and the I-29 Interstate, and provides easy truck and service access, as well as overflow traffic for the project.
Invite users and clients into the site. A large landscaped traffic-circle (round-about) with lighting, flagpoles, and signage, anchors the main entrance and is the central focus of a north/south boulevard road.
Be innovative in every way, from the way the Innovation Campus detains water to the unique water features and open green space. A professional eye-catching environment - the place your company will want to be.

The design of the Master plan is to create a Knowledge Community in South Dakota. The Master Plan serves as a guide to build a community where people and ideas come together, and where partnerships form between business, industry, government, and university.
